New Attorney General Becerra meets in Bakersfield with UFWF, farm workers and other local leaders over Trump immigration edict

California’s new attorney general, Xavier Becerra, will hold a press availability at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Bakersfield after private talks with Kern County farm workers, the United Farm Workers Foundation and other community advocates over the Trump administration’s immigration and refugee executive actions and other issues impacting Kern County immigrant communities. The session will take place at the UFW Foundation office in Bakersfield.

Among those joining farm workers who could be affected by the Trump anti-immigrant measures will be UFW Foundation Executive Director and United Farm Workers National Executive Board member Diana Tellefson Torres, UFW Foundation staff and leaders from other community-based organizations.

It will be the attorney general’s first visit to Kern County since being appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown and assuming office last month vowing to resist the new President’s anti-immigrant agenda.
